Festivals Around The World




Chinese New Year

Starts with the new moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the fool moon 15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival, which is celebrated at night with the lantern displays and children crrying lanterns in a parade.
New year's day are celebrated as a family, a time of reunion and thanksgiving. The celebration was tradtionally with religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth, the gods of the household and the family ancestors.




















15 Day Celebration

* 1st day is "the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth".
* 2nd day they pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods.
* 3rd and 4th day for the sons to pay respect to their parents.
* 5th day " Po Woo" on that day people stay at home to welcome the god of the Wealth.
* 6th to 10th day they visit their relatives and friends, they also pray for good furtune and health.
* 10th to 12th day friends and relatives should be invited for dinner.
* 13th day simple rice and mustard greens to cleanse the system.
* 14th day is for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is held on the 15th day at night.

Food

On the new year, they eat a vegetarian dish "Jai" and some other foods like chicken, noodles and fish.

Decorations

They decorate their living rooms with lants and flowers, oranges and tangerines, and also a candy tray.





“Carnaval de Barranquilla”


 Is a carnival celebrated in Barranquilla, Colombia 4 days before “Miercoles de ceniza” and ends during “Batalla de las florez”. This carnaval is a “mixture” between: European, African and native Indians cultures. This carnival is one of the most important carnivals in Colombia. These days are full of color, music and happiness. The most typical dances are: “La Cumbia” which represents de fusion of the European, African and native Indians cultures, and “El Garabato”, which represents the victory of life over death.


 
One of the symbols of this carnival is the “Marimonda”, the costume is a big, large nose, they wear the pants backwards, a tie and with a really loudly whistle. People dress of Marimonda with the intention of joking on high class people.

Halloween Origin



Halloween comes from the term of  "All Hallows Eve" which occurred on October 31st, the end of summer in Ireland and Scotland. "All Saints Day" or "All Hallows Day" was the next day of November 1st. The  headers at this time of year moved their animals into pens and barns to pass the winter. Which spirits roamed around at this time. People dressed in costumes and paraded in villages to scare the spirits.
Later on this dates were named as "All Saints Day by the Catholic Church.

Latinoamerica Eco School


Mission: To teach students so they can have a very high education level and to care about our environment.

Vision: This school will have one of the highest level education in Latinoamerica.


Ecology: My school will have solar cells to take advantage of the sunlight,recycling trash cans and it will be a paperless.Rain harvesting tanks for variable uses. Teachers will help students to take care of the environment.

Description: My school would be in the clouds; to get the school, you would travel in a tube and to go home you will take a slide. This school has art caft projects, sports activities, the regular subjects and a little farm with rabbits, cows, dogs, chickens,pigs and other animals.

The school would have many green places for students and animals coexist with activities, we also practice values like: Respect, Responsibility and Honesty and most of the subjects will be in english, others will be in spanish.

Uniform: In this school will be three days of sweatshirt and two days of daily uniform.

            * Yellow: For life and education.
            * Orange: For values.

Pet: Mountain Gorilla "Rolot". It's a strong animal and represents endanger animals like the mountain gorilla that need to be protected.

4. Keep clean the green places, classes, cafeteria and restrooms. (for having a better coexistence).
5. Help others.
6. Be puntual and pay attention in class.
